Shares close higher on bargain hunting, oil price pullback

Tech Softball team slips into losers’ bracket in NCAA softball championships

The Virginia Tech softball team fell to Texas A&M 1-0 today in the Women’s College World Series. The loss dropped Tech into the tournament’s losers’ bracket, but the team can still play its way to the championship. The game’s only run came in the sixth inning, when Tech third baseman Charisse Mariconda threw wildly to first on Megan Gibson’s grounder, allowing pinch-runner Andrea Tovar to score from second. A&M improved to 55-7 with the win.

Comic actor Harvey Korman dies at 81

Comic actor Harvey Korman has died at 81, according to the UCLA Medical Center. Korman was a regular on “The Carol Burnett Show” from 1967 through 1978, for which he won a Golden Globe award, and Emmy awards in 1969, 1971, 1972 and 1974.

Charges filed vs 6 suspects in Cabuyao massacre

Harvey Korman; Comic Known For ‘Burnett,’ ‘Blazing Saddles’

Harvey Korman, the tall, versatile comedian who won four Emmys for his outrageously funny contributions to “The Carol Burnett Show” and played a conniving politician to hilarious effect in “Blazing Saddles,” died May 29 at UCLA Medical Center in Los Angeles. He was 81.
